Job summaryWe have a vacancy for an experienced MRI radiographer to join our team at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.There has never been a better time to join our Radiology Department. We are currently investing in the future of our service with a fully managed equipment replacement program throughout the entire Radiology department. In MRI, we are in the procurement phase to purchase 2 new MRI scanners incorporating all of the latest technological advancements and highest specification available which will result in improved image quality and reduced scan times. The new technology will also allow us to build new protocols which are not possible on the current scanners.The equipment upgrades will form part of the refurbishment of the entire department which is all very exciting for radiology as a whole.In our current MRI suite, we have a Siemens Magnetom Aera 1.5 Tesla scanner,We welcome applications from experienced MRI radiographers with effective leadership skills who have a proactive approach to providing outstanding care for every patient. The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills, organised with the ability to prioritise worklists. An excellent working knowledge of MRI and patient safety is essential with the ability to participate in extended days including our weekend service.Main duties of the jobPerform a wide range of MRI imaging examinations encompassing Cardiac, Gynae, GI, Prostate, Vascular, MSK, Whole Body DWI, Neurological and Paediatric imaging.Ensure high standards of MRI imaging and patient care working in a multidisciplinary team.Independently assess and justify MRI referrals following Department policy and guidelines where appropriate.Participate in the out of hours / on call / extended working day service as required.Supervise and assist specialist and junior radiographers and students.Provide senior support to the MRI Lead and to provide senior cover during the Lead's absence.Use professional discretion and experience to ensure that clinical practice is carried out correctly, professionally and within the legal framework.Assist the MRI superintendent in developing the MRI service.Manage a clinical workload and meet deadlines.Undertake personal and professional development.Prioritise workload and regularly reassess to ensure patient needs are met.Give IV injections of MRI contrast agents, including the use of specialist injector pumps.Undertake basic troubleshooting of the department's digital information systems (e.g., send images using the Web browser, change labels/paper/film in printers, retrieve images from archives).Undertake audit and research activities as requiredAbout usOur vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient.
