Apprentice Incomes Specialist Officer Job description An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with other Income Specialists within the Income Management and Financial Inclusion Team (IMFIT). This is a two-year apprenticeship where from day 1 to the end of the 2 years, you will be given the training and skills needed to fulfil your role to become an Income Plus Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a qualification in housing whilst earning a salary. You will study at Level 3 to obtain a Housing Certificate, in order to successfully complete this level of study you will need the following. Maths and English CSE - grade 1 GCSE - grades 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 or grades A*, A, B, C are desirable at the point of recruitment OR the applicant will be expected to achieve these during the apprenticeship programme. Over the apprenticeship programme we will provide you with the training required to develop your skills, knowledge and experience, enabling you to successfully move into the trained to post of Incomes Specialist. This can take up to 2 years. These skills will equip you to undertake the full duties of the Job Description and support the team to achieve its aim of supporting tenants to manage their money and pay their rent. Details of pay £10.80 per hour for the first year, the second year will depend on the age of the apprentice, with apprentices under 18 still earning £10.80 and those over 18 earing £12.21. Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will earn a salary of £29,093 annually as at today’s rate of pay. Study You will be required to work towards a qualification with the expectation to complete a day release in a learning centre and if applicable to undertake Maths and English. Please note that this is essential and is non-negotiable. You will have off the job training once a week to work towards your qualification, so good organisational skills are key to enable you to complete this work whilst also carrying out your role within the service. Specific details of the role Income collection is crucial to the health of the Housing Revenue Account – which funds all housing related services to Sheffield council tenants. With the roll out of Universal Credit continuing in Sheffield and the current cost of living crisis, the challenge of supporting tenants during a period of great change whilst maximising arrears recovery will get harder. The Income Management and Financial Inclusion Team are the lead players within the Housing Service recovering rent, as well as delivering financial inclusion initiatives, whilst working in partnership with other services, both internal and external to the Council. The successful applicants will work in one of our teams based at Solpro Business Park. The work will be mainly office based but you will be required to work flexibly, from other locations across the city and carry out home visits when necessary. Provide support and advice to customers to maximise their income and prioritise payments of rent. Take firm but fair recovery action in connection with unpaid rent from current and former tenants. Successful applicants must also have: Good numeracy and written skills An ability to use Microsoft IT and other relevant systems. You will be working towards An ability to interpret and follow procedures, policies and legislation.
