Our Benefits About The Role This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Adoption and Permmanace Team as an Assistant Team Manager . In this role, you’ll be primarily working on Special Guardianship and Kinship assessments, to find an appropriate permanent carer for our most vulnerable children. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in understanding the impact of trauma and loss on a child and considering what understanding and skills any potential carer needs in order to raise a child that has had a unique experience. You will also need to understand what we need to know to so we can be assured tgar they are prepared for this responsibility. About The Team You’ll Be Working In Currently the team consist of a Team Manager, 4 SG and Kinship assessing social workers. 1.5 panel administrator/ADM admin and 1 BSO. The team is small but diverse in terms of ethnicity, experience. The team is close knit, stable, experienced and engage well with each other as well as with the management team. They enjoy their work and take pride in producing robust quality assessments. About You What is important for the assistant team manager to know is that despite the team appearing on the surface to have a low case load, the assessments require a lot time, effort, gathering of evidence and intense, close working relationship with the adults we assess. Reflection and biases need to be fully explored within the supervsion process. There needs to be level of confidence in being able to be a predictive social worker to understand not only the future needs of any child but also how the relationship between the child and adult(s) is likely to progress over time. To ensure the Adoption and Permanence Team continues to deliver high quality special guardianship and kinship placements for Hounslow Children. Manage the services provided by the Adoption and Permanence Team to children needing to permanency planning and assessments of connected persons either as Kinship carers or as Special Guardians. To assist and support the Team Manager and Head of Service in managing the delivery of excellent childcare practice through the effective management and supervision of a team Social Work professionals. Applicants should be enthused about working with Adults and help them understand the needs of our most vulnerable children. Applicants should be well organised and should have good IT and written skills. Applicants should have experience of working with cases that are subject to a legal PLO framework. Applicants should be able to establish good working relationships with adults and professionals. Qualification: At least 3 years post qualified and want management experience.
