The Post As a major Strategic Business Unit within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Experience of working in a transfusion/pathology laboratory and/or component production environment would be useful but is not essential. Name of University Name of Course Year of graduation This is an excellent opportunity to join the team of Biomedical Scientists and Biomedical Support Workers working within the Components Department. The Components Department provides an essential service towards the provision of healthcare in Scotland. The department is responsible for manufacturing specialised blood components from both whole blood and apheresis collections and has a vital role in the supply of high-quality blood components to other SNBTS sites and hospitals throughout Scotland. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. Candidates must have current HCPC registration at the time of applying. Location and Working Pattern: Location - The Jack Copland Centre, 52 Research Avenue North, Heriot-Watt Research Park, Edinburgh. Work Pattern - Monday to Sunday, 37 hours per week. The post holder will be required to undertake shift working as part of their role (pattern covers 24/7/365).
