Organisation: Leicestershire County Council Work Location: Oakfield Secondary Provision, based on Iveshead School Campus, Shepshed Worker Category: Field Based Worker Salary: Main Scale 3 - UPS + TLR2a and SEN1 (for experienced teachers) Working Hours: 34 hrs per week, term time Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: 23rd May 2025 Interview Date(s): TBC About the Role About Us: Oakfield Short Stay School is Leicestershire’s provision for primary school aged children who have been permanently excluded from school. We are expanding the age range of Oakfield School and as a result we are recruiting teaching staff. Our Secondary Inclusion Partnership staff who currently put provision in place for secondary aged children and young people who have been excluded from school or who are at risk of this are also joining the team. You will be part of a vital team in an exciting period of development, working with us to meet the needs of children and young people between the ages of 11 and 16 who struggle to manage in mainstream and need a different offer of education to secure their successful next steps. Role Overview: As a Class/Inclusion Teacher, you will be at the heart of our mission, teaching a small group of learners and delivering a creative curriculum that captivates and inspires. The role would suit a teacher with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can inspire others. Many of our young people present with challenging behaviour, and we are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong empathy and ability to intrinsically connect with pupils with complex SEMH needs. Key Responsibilities: Teach and Inspire: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons to a small group of learners, fostering a love for learning. Support Reintegration: Assist in reintegrating pupils back into mainstream schools, ensuring they receive the support they need and equipping them with the skills they need to be successful. Collaborate with Agencies: Work closely with educational psychologists, SEN coordinators, and other external agencies to support pupil progress. Promote Inclusion: Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported. A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post. About You To apply for this post, you must: Qualified teacher status. Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs in a primary school, primary pupil referral unit or primary special school Experience of leading a team Experience of teaching challenging pupils. Experience of educational development and planning. Ability to provide strategic direction and development on curriculum development and current issues.
