Job summary Our Endoscopy Decontamination Department deals with decontamination of medical devices and re-processing of endoscopes for the endoscopy unit and theatres. Shifts are worked over 5 days Monday to Friday with a possibility of weekend work. The role involves exposure to blood and bodily fluids within a contained environment. The post holder will: Maintain and promote personal and professional image in accordance with stated expectations. Undertake the role of washing and decontamination of endoscopes and related endoscopic equipment. To reprocess endoscopes, record all processes of each endoscope in the tracking and tracing database and to ensure all endoscopes are stored correctly adhering to safety procedures. To work at all times in accordance with the departments standard operating procedures and the quality management systems and to adhere to Trust policies and procedures. To provide clinical support as required, and to always ensure the efficient and effective running of the endoscopy department and decontamination facilities. To undertake the role of assisting the professionally qualified staff in the delivery of all aspects of care to ensure patient focused care is delivered safely and in a timely manner. Main duties of the job When working within the decontamination unit the participate should ensure communication is consistent with legislation, policy and procedure. The post holder will: Communicate in a professional manner with colleagues and show an understanding in identifying the complexity of communication within an indication audience. Maintain good relationships, communications with all disciplines within the Trust. Provide exceptional communication when working within the decontamination unit to be able to provide and receive routine messages from endoscopy staff on the endoscopy unit. Maintain good relationships and effective communication with any other personnel that contacted is needed with in a day-to-day basis. For example manufacturers and suppliers. The participant should be able to communicate referring issues to the appropriate person where necessary, this could be face to face, written or using IT systems.
