Job summary We have an exciting and unique opportunity with drug and alcohol services to offer the role of a Harm Reduction Treatment Nurse. We are looking to seek a motivated, committed and enthusiastic individual to provide evidence based harm reduction interventions and depot based treatment to drug and alcohol service users within the Derby City community. Our aim is to provide high quality planned care to individuals experiencing substance misuse problems in order to improve their health and wellbeing and to support their recovery; the role of the Harm Reduction Treatment Nurse will be integral to achieving this. Experience of providing harm reduction interventions and depots for individuals with substance misuse difficulties is essential. It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will lead and deliver the depot treatment for OST medication, working alongside nurses, keyworkers, consultants, pharmacist, and prescribers to ensure the safe and effective delivery of medications are clinically managed. They will also support interventions such as testing and vaccination, physical health assessment, needle exchange provision, ECG, liver health fibro scans and act as a robust link between primary care, secondary care services and other care settings. Currently, this post is fixed term for 9 months due to funding. There may be an opportunity for this post to become substantive if further funding is agreed.
