Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to become part of our Children's Community Nursing Team. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality respite care to children with complex needs within their homes. You'll be providing both day and night shift care, ensuring our services are available around the clock. Provide high-quality respite care to children with complex or long-term health needs. Deliver care in a variety of settings, including childrens homes and schools. Work flexible hours, including day and night shifts, to ensure a 24-hour care service. Requirements - NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (or willingness to work towards this). Previous experience in a care setting is desirable, but full training will be provided during induction. Main duties of the job Provide personal and clinical care to children and young people in accordance with individual care plans, responding promptly and effectively to urgent or unpredictable care needs. Safely use moving and handling aids tailored to the individual needs of each child or young person, ensuring skin integrity, comfort, and safety. Administer prescribed medications, including rectal medication, in line with Trust policies. Deliver high-quality care that upholds the privacy, dignity, and infection prevention and control standards at all times. Meet the nutritional requirements of children and young people, utilising the necessary equipment in line with their individual needs. Continuously assess the health and well-being of each child or young person, initiating appropriate interventions, and following emergency procedures as outlined in their care plan. Maintain professional and effective communication with children, young people, and their families to support care delivery. Demonstrate the ability to concentrate at a high level for extended periods, particularly during unsocial hours or in demanding situations. Obtain specimens or samples, following appropriate training and protocols. Recognise personal and professional limitations and effectively collaborate with Community Childrens Nurses, Team Leaders, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
