The post holder undertakes high-level technical duties in the following areas of pharmaceutical care Education and Training Clinical Medicines Optimisation Accredited Accuracy Checking covering Wards, & Dispensaries The post holder will support in-house and NVQ education and training for pre-registration Pharmacy technicians and Pharmacy support staff and other relevant staff, under the supervision of the Senior Pharmacy Technician – Education and Training. They will support the review and development of training documents and SOP’s within training and development and suggest changes that impact on other areas. They will support with all aspects of training including induction plans, competency assessments and revalidation of assessments to monitor standards, as required. The post holder will also be an integral part of the Medicine Optimisation team, working alongside the Pharmacists, and a range of health care professionals. They will work seamlessly between primary and secondary care and link with a range of healthcare professionals to optimise concordance and compliance with prescribed medication. The post holder will practice as a mentor in all areas of competence. The post holder will also carry out the checking of prescriptions and related items, as per the departmental Accredited Checking Technician program and also undergo annual re-assessment of competency of this role in line with the regional framework.
