Information Systems Officer Job description Information Systems Officer (Stock and CMDB Officer) We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Stock and CMDB Officer to join our dynamic Service Management Team within ICT and Digital Innovation as a Systems Information Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for operational excellence and a keen eye for detail to play a vital role in supporting the Council’s technology infrastructure. We are looking for someone who is not only highly organised and self-motivated but also thrives in a collaborative environment and have a particular focus on customer service. You will bring a positive, can-do attitude and demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Your main duties will include an amount of physical lifting and carrying as you will be responsible for taking deliveries of IT equipment and peripherals. Necessary manual handling training will be provided. The role will be office based, Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week, within Howden House, Sheffield City Centre. Key Responsibilities Stock and Asset Management Receive and process deliveries of IT equipment and peripherals, including manual handling (training provided). Maintain accurate stock records and ensure timely updates to the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within our ITSM tool (Xurrent). Conduct regular stock audits and ensure the stockroom remains well organised and compliant with safety standards. Coordinate collections and deliveries with end users, ensuring efficient stock movement. Procurement and Order Fulfilment Manage hardware and software requests from end users, including raising purchase orders and liaising with suppliers. Track and monitor order progress, escalating issues where necessary. Support Access to Work requests and ensure timely fulfilment. Supplier Engagement Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers. Coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any supply chain issues promptly. Monitor supplier performance and escalate concerns as appropriate. CMDB Maintenance Ensure the CMDB is consistently accurate and up to date. Add new assets promptly and maintain data integrity through regular audits. Utilise ITSM tools to generate reports and dashboards for asset tracking and analysis. What We’re Looking For Experience in stock or asset management, ideally within an IT environment. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Experience in a customer facing role. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to knowledge sharing. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and service delivery.
