Our audits cover a diverse range of services, which we sometimes visit in person and our auditors really enjoy the variety this gives. With support from an Audit Manager the role is required to deliver a suite of Internal Audits from our annual plan. You will be expected to deliver audits from the start to finish, including planning and scoping risks, writing a terms of reference, writing and delivering a testing plan, holding an exit meeting and reporting your findings. No two audits are the same and cover novel and interesting topics that extend across the whole of the Environment Agency. One day you could be looking at flood defences and the next waste enforcement. The complexity and skill level required is tailored to the role as appropriate, with Internal Auditors being given support to undertake the audits as required, whilst also encouraging their development. The team We are a team of eight headed by the Deputy Director of Internal Audit and reporting into the Director of Legal in Legal and Audit Services. Experience/skills required A complete or part qualified professional qualification with the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, CCAB or equivalent and internal audit experience is highly desirable. It is not strictly required provided you can demonstrate strong transferable skills. The following are required: An understanding of risk and risk based internal auditing. An ability to work independently and confidently, with support from an Audit Manager. Effective time and resources management to ensure the delivery of reports within the agreed budget and timeframes. Analytical thinking. Diverse thought to find practical and realistic solutions that add value to the client. Confident communication and negotiation skills dealing with business colleagues at all grades. Translation of your findings into clear, concise reports with an action plan and gaining prompt agreement with the client. Be an effective team member, supporting wider delivery by working constructively and flexibly to deliver appropriate outcomes Contact and additional information Interviews to take place early-mid June 2025. If your probation is successful, you are expected to enrol onto/complete a relevant internal audit professional qualification if you do not already have one. Some travel to your base office and other Environment Agency locations will be required in this role.
