Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Blood Sciences department. We are looking for a keen, enthusiastic individual with an interest in developing services to help us continue to deliver exceptional, high-quality integrated care to our patients. CPP is an excellent place to train and develop new skills, and further study will be supported. Main duties of the job Performing all designated duties within Pathology reception in accordance with local working practices, to maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety regulations Preparing and processing clinical specimens for biomedical testing, within operating procedures and protocols. To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times under the supervision of the Pathology Reception Team Leader. To continue with personal development through academic or practical experience. Be able to rotate through all areas as required (dependent on experience and training), performing all designated duties in accordance with local working practices whilst maintaining high personal standards and conforming to Health and Safety regulations. Provide general advice to users of the pathology service, for example, sample type, test availability. Prepare samples for routine and specialist biomedical investigations, working on own initiative to agreed protocols. Participate in and assist with clinical trials, particularly in sample receipt and preparation. Propose changes to standard operating procedures as required in order to develop and streamline the service or to reflect.
