The post holder will be the CNS lead for the service and will work closely with the Haematology Consultants and other Haematology CNS team members. This will include multidisciplinary team working across the Trust. The team are based at the newly refurbished Haematology and Oncology Day unit, The Meadows at Ecclesshill Community Hospital. The service provides comprehensive assessments and treatment plans for patients with lifelong conditions. Patients attend for regular reviews at both nurse led and consultant clinics in outpatient settings, as well as on the ward, the Emergency Department as well as having telephone assessments. The post holder must hold non- medical prescribing qualification or work towards their non - medical nurse prescribing Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity to expand or gain specialist knowledge in non-malignant Haematology. As Lead CNS you will be directly responsible for line management of the band 6s within your team You will be expected to manage a caseload of patients autonomously via clinics and day to day acute calls from the patients.Educate and work closely with patients, carers and wider members of the MDT including onward referrals to other specialist services within and outside the hospital.You will assist and monitor patients compliance to their treatment/medications, provide specialist information, advice and support to improve quality of life.The successful candidate will be dynamic, hardworking, exhibit excellent standards in communication and will be expected to lead and deliver high quality evidence-based care.This role requires a high level of competence, nursing expertise and clinical decision making skills.
