Job summary An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and values-driven nurse or allied health professional to lead our Learning Disability and Autism (LDA) service at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. In this pivotal Band 8a role, you will head a small but impactful team focused on championing and embedding inclusive, high-quality care for people with learning disabilities and autistic people across both acute and community services. You'll be instrumental in delivering the NHS Long Term Plan priorities and driving improvements aligned to the Trust's adult safeguarding and patient experience agendas. We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative leader who is passionate about health equity and skilled in navigating complexity. You should have: Significant experience at Band 7 or above. A professional background as a registered nurse (Learning Disability, Mental Health or Adult), or as an AHP with HCPC registration. Advanced knowledge of the legal and policy frameworks related to LDA, including MCA, DoLS and safeguarding. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to work across boundaries and lead in emotionally challenging situations. A strong track record in education, service improvement, and partnership working. A commitment to promoting dignity, inclusion and co-production at all levels of care. Main duties of the job You will lead and develop the Homerton Learning Disability and Autism service, providing advanced clinical leadership, strategic oversight, and expert guidance. The role involves managing key team members including the Acute Liaison Practitioner and Inclusion Lead, and working closely with the Head of Adult Safeguarding. Your remit will include: Developing and embedding a Trust-wide LDA strategy, including delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training. Working across pathways and services to ensure equitable, person-centred care for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. Building workforce competence and confidence through education, support and reflective practice. Providing visible expert leadership, offering advice to teams and directly supporting staff in complex care planning. Ensuring the Trust delivers its obligations under the LeDeR programme and national LDA improvement standards. Working in partnership with external agencies, ICBs and local authority services to shape pathways and improve patient experience and outcomes. Leading quality improvement and service evaluation projects, chairing the Trust's LDA Working Group and contributing to safeguarding governance.
