Term-time only contract, 36 hours per week We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic librarian with experience of working with children and young people to promote reading in our all-through library. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated applicant with a strong interest in children’s and young adult literature who has experience in managing a library, ideally within an educational setting. We are seeking applicants who would strongly advocate the promotion of reading for pleasure and academic success, and enjoy working with young people of all ages. Buxton School’s library provides a welcoming, safe and bright environment, and is the heart of the School’s learning culture. It is a self-contained and split between a quiet reading area and a study area. The successful candidate will have a zest for learning and be an advocate for literacy that promotes our school’s values of being Ambitious, Honest, Academic, Kind and a Family. Duties include managing book stock through a computerised system and assisting pupils in the selection of books. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, management and promotion of the school library as an essential learning environment. They will play a key role in providing individualised service, encouraging reading for pleasure, facilitating independent learning and research, promoting intellectual curiosity and scholarship, and supporting teaching and learning requirements throughout Buxton School.
