Looking for a role where you can truly change lives? Join our Supported Accommodation team as a Night Support Worker and help create a safe, supportive space for young people aged 16 – 21 in our Supported Housing facility situated near Sunderland city centre. In this key role, you will promote their well- being, safety and personal development in a 24-hour temporary supported accommodation service, guiding them towards independent living. As a Night Support Worker, you will inspire personal growth by encouraging and leading activities that help develop essential life skills, while ensuring their safety through building access management and emergency support. In this role, you will need to stay calm under pressure, think quickly, and provide reassurance to young people who may be facing difficult circumstances. Your ability and confidence to assess situations, respond effectively, and communicate with clarity will help create a safe and supportive environment. A welcoming environment is key, so you’ll help maintain a clean and comfortable space that feels like home. Beyond practical support, you will empower young people to take charge of their futures, guiding them to uphold their housing agreements and transition towards independent living. Working closely with a dedicated team, you’ll ensure smooth handovers and continuous support, helping to build trust and stability. Key responsibilities of this role include: Ensure the physical safety of young people in the accommodation and yourself while on duty. Provide support for welfare and safeguarding concerns, responding to individual needs with sensitivity. Empower young people to uphold their housing agreements and work toward independence. Assist in emergencies by contacting the emergency services or contractors where needed, taking appropriate action. Support independent living by helping young people develop the skills needed to transition to their own tenancy and build a stable future. What we are looking for: Ability to work permanent night shifts. Demonstrable experience working with young and/or vulnerable people. Proven experience remaining calm under pressure and ability to work on own initiative. Ability to deal with difficult situations with confidence.
