Job summary We are looking to appoint a new role for Woodcock Road Surgery, a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Technician, full or part time applicants. This is an exciting role for the right Pharmacy Technician to join our small supportive practice. We are looking for someone who has a planned and organised approach with an ability to prioritise own workload , work effectively independently and as a member of a team. Pharmacy technicians play an important role, complementing clinical pharmacists, community pharmacists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Pharmacy technicians core role responsibilities will cover clinical, and technical and administrative categories. The purpose of the role is to lead improvements to maximise safe, cost effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. This role will be employed directly via the practice and funded inline with the ARRS PCN DES requirements. The successful applicant will play an important role in supporting our 5 GPs. Main duties of the job The post holder will need to have a Professional registration with GPhC. BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences and evidence of continued professional development (CPD). Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy. Key Responsibilities: Medication Reviews- Assist with structured medication reviews, reconciling medicines post-discharge and ensuring accurate records Repeat Prescriptions- Process and authorise repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols and clinical guidelines Medication Safety- Identify and resolve medication-related issues, ensure compliance with national and local prescribing policies and contribute to audits Patient Education- Provide advice on medication use, side effects and adherence to treatment plans Support our Doctors - Work with the clinical team to improve prescribing quality and manage high-risk medicines Stock Management- Ensure efficient ordering, storage and disposal of medicines within the practice Data and Reporting- Assist with prescribing audits, data collection and reporting for quality improvement initiatives. About us About us We are a busy City Practice, providing services for 8,500 patients. Our team includes 3 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 2 Nurses with a variety of skills including Sexual Health and Diabetes Management, a Health Care Assistant and a Phlebotomist. We are also pleased to welcome PCN employed colleagues and are joined each week by a Physiotherapist, a Mental Health Nurse, a Clinical Pharmacist and a Physician's Associate. The clinical team is supported by a skilled and well organised administration team. We use SystmOne for our Clinical system, and also utilise various digital platforms such as Accurx and Footfall to support our processes. We are a well-established training Practice and welcome GP Registrars on six monthly placements and Year 5 UEA Students, twice a year. The Practice fosters a strong ethos of mutual support and teamwork meeting regularly to discuss clinical cases.
