Job summary The post is based at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. There will be the opportunity to participate in developments and may be required to provide supervision and training for junior staff. Current experience of radiotherapy treatment planning is essential, and the post holder will be supported through a comprehensive in-house competency based training programme in treatment planning for a wide range of treatment sites. Radiotherapy treatment planning is undertaken on Raystation. The Dosimetry teams work as a large combined service between both sites of NCCC in Newcastle and Carlisle allowing ample opportunity for the post holder to deepen their experience of complex treatment planning techniques. NO AGENCIES PLEASE Main duties of the job Managing the daily organisation of own workload to ensure the delivery of the highly specialist external beam radiotherapy dose planning service to the Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC). For individual patients, designing the radiotherapy plan and determining the treatment parameters on a treatment planning system. For individual patients, validating treatment data generated to ensure its integrity and appropriateness for clinical use and exporting it for treatment. Responsible, with the clinician, for designing highly complex plans for individual patients with particular dosimetric problems and where appropriate communicating the complex information of the plan to other staff groups. Participating in research development projects from inception to completion. Contribute to the delivery of training and education of all staff groups and visitors to the section.
