This is a brilliant opportunity for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to promote and improve the mental and physical health and well-being of Children, Young People and those who care for them. You’ll be working with young people aged up to 18 years with eating disorder and Pervasive Arousal Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS). You’ll be providing interventions on an individual basis, planning and providing group based interventions. We’ll rely on you to ensure there is effective and sensitive communication between, the Children and Young People in your care, those who care for them, the health professionals you work with and other relevant agencies. This is a varied and extremely rewarding role, helping young people who can be resistant to change, re-establish routines and improve their day to day lives. Galaxy House is a 12 bedded specialist inpatient service based at RMCH within MFT. Ideally, you will have experience in either a mental health, rehabilitation or paediatric setting. We’ll support you to develop your skills to become an expert in your field. You will be involved in pre-admission assessments, their therapeutic input throughout their admission and support their discharge planning back to the community. Working with complex young people to provide intensive ward-based interventions using a holistic goal setting approach. This would allow you to use your therapeutic skills looking at both the young person’s physical and mental health needs. Part of the role is to develop training sessions for members of the MDT, including delivering the train the trainer Moving & Handling training. Dedicated to providing an environment that encourages patient-centred involvement, you’ll contribute to MDT meetings and developing joint intervention packages. You will make sure that care is coordinated with the internal and external departments you work with, with the aim of providing the best patient journey possible. Using your knowledge of evidence-based practice, you’ll offer therapeutic solutions in line with the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
