Job summary The post holder will largely participate in undertaking the surveillance program of SurgicalSite Infections (SSI) in line with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) guidance, onpatients of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) NHS Trust. The post holderwill also provide day to day administrative functions for the Infection Prevention andControl Team (IPCT). Main duties of the job Responsible for gathering, collating and inputting SSI data in the trust local database andUKHSA SSI database designed to monitor such infections, conforming to tight timelines.Play an assisting role in maintaining a proactive approach to the prevention, control,investigation, and surveillance of surgical site infections and other healthcare-associatedinfections within the Trust, under the supervision of the IPC SSI Surveillance Nurse andother senior members of the IPCT.The SSI Coordinator/ Administrative support staff will demonstrate a level of skill andunderstanding which enables the individual to take responsibility for specific tasksdelegated by the IPCT or in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. The staff will undertakes routine administrative tasks for the surveillance work and/or specifically identified tasks under the supervision of a qualified nurse, and where they have received training, support and instruction to reach a level of competence enabling them to take on this wider role. Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE level or equivalent in English and Mathematics Educated to A level standard or NVQ Level 3 in health and social care Desirable 1st Degree Education or equivalent qualification Experience Essential Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment or public facing role/ corporate setting.
