The Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit based within St Ann's Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our wonderful team. Haven Female PICU is a 5 bedded female PICU that provides a high level of effective and compassionate care to women who are experiencing the most acute phase of a serious mental disorder. We utilise a range of interventions to ensure we adhere to best practice and provide excellent care to our patients at all times. The team aim to: Treat patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act using positive engagement, talking therapies (CBT/DBT) and medicines Ensuring patient and their family/carers are at the centre of their recovery journey Engage creatively with patients to co-produce their individual care plans Prioritise both mental and physical health wellness Engaging patients in doing a variety of activities both on the ward and off the ward Help patients get active, eat well and take care of their own wellbeing Promote freedom of choice and least restrictive practice, in a safe and therapeutic environment Main duties of the job We are looking for suitably qualified and caring individuals who wish to work in a fast paced and challenging environment. You will have excellent clinical skills and be a team player who is emotionally intelligent and able to remain calm when managing potentially testing situations. This is an excellent area to begin your career and each year, we welcome a number of newly qualified nurses to our psychiatric intensive care service and support them in developing their skills and confidence as a nurse. This is also an exciting opportunity for nurses working in other settings of mental health nursing who would like to utilise and apply their skills in a specialist environment, caring for people with a wide variety of presenting problems and needs. As a specialist service, we are able to provide opportunities to further develop your skills within specialised training such as RAID, Relational Security, DBT, CBT, enhanced risk assessment, and enhanced physical health interventions. Following successful completion of your 6 month probation period, you will meet with your supervisor to discuss your personal development plan which will identify your learning and training needs, so we can ensure you have all the skills you need to be the best you can be in your role.
