Job Overview We are looking for a permanent full time Ward Host Supervisor to support our catering team at Frimley Park Hospital. You will support and assist the Food Service Manager (FSM) in the provision of a highly professional Ward Catering Service to all ward catering areas within Frimley Park Hospital NHS You will also plan, organise, co-ordinate. control, motivate and train those people within your immediate team to achieve agreed professional objectives As part of the role you will develop working relationships with members of the ward based clinical teams to meet patient’s nutritional requirements and follow the duties laid out by the Food Service Manager (FSM) in the day-to-day operational management of meal service to patient catering services in a friendly and efficient manner, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Main duties of the job To assist the Food Service Manager (FSM) to expand and/or make recommendations for improving standards and enhancing the service to all Patients and Relatives through quality initiatives and look at ways of maximising good customer care To be conscious of menu content, food allergens / intolerances whilst understanding the importance of portion control, food presentation and customer care To show consideration, privacy and dignity of patients and their relatives/visitors is respected at all times Responsible for all aspects of HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points), to include hygiene and cleanliness checks in area of responsibility Working for our organisation Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and south Buckinghamshire. We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital's NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities Manage and control Patient meal provision at ward level Support and assist the Assistant Hotel Services Manager - Catering in the promotion and planning of a quality “Customer Aware Catering Service” and subsequent implementation of cost and quality improvements to the service in line with the Trust Quality Strategy To develop a working relationship with the ward management teams supporting and improving the Patient meal time experience Co-operating with other members of the Catering Team on a day to day basis to maintain and improve the present high standard of food service for Patients Monitor satisfaction at ward level by evaluating audits and customer surveys, to ensure food temperatures and quality is of the highest standard, liaising with the FSM or/and Supervisors. Deal with complaints in accordance with the department’s policy, keeping the FSM informed of the outcome. Make recommendations as necessary to ensure learning within the Department and agree action plans with the Head Chef and Supervisors Act as an ambassador for the Department and actively promote a positive and professional image of the Department Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria NVQ Supervisory Certificate and/or at least 5years experience in a junior role Experience of working in a customer facing environment Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene Desirable criteria Food Hygiene Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering NEBSS and/or OND qualification and/or similar qualification Skills Essential criteria Ability to work efficiently with good time management skills Customer care experience Must have Essential criteria Essential computer skills.
