Job summaryWe are looking for a dynamic Consultant psychiatrist to be part of a high calibre consultant peer group in the heart of London and to work in established older adults inpatient mental health services in Westminster.This is a 10 PA substantive Consultant post in Older Adult Inpatient Psychiatry and is subject to annual job planning and appraisal. The post-holder will work with highly skilled and established multidisciplinary teams on Kershaw ward and 3, Beatrice Place. This post is a replacement consultant post.We offer a range of development opportunities to build and expand consultant clinical and leadership portfolios both for newly qualified and established consultants (please see job description for further details). We welcome applications from candidates within 6 months of CCT and from international candidates.Main duties of the jobThe post-holder's principal duties will be to provide Medical Leadership to patients admitted to Kershaw Ward and Beatrice Place Older Adults unit. He/she will act as the Responsible Clinician for any patients subject to the Mental Health Act. There are 14 acute beds and 6 continuing care beds covered by this post. There are two core trainees and a full-time specialty Doctor attached to this post. The post-holder will act as Clinical Supervisor for these doctors.Both Kershaw and Beatrice Place have well-developed multidisciplinary teams that provide care for older adults. The MDTs are highly skilled and experienced in caring for people with frailty and/or cognitive impairment and mental health problems. They include nursing staff, health care assistants, occupational therapists, a psychologist and art-therapists. There is also regular access to a dietician, speech and language therapist and physiotherapists.
