We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Legal Officer to work in the Social Care Team within Legal Services. The post holder will be required to work alongside the Social Care Lawyers. The role will include requesting evidence to support court proceedings, liaison with other child protection agencies, the court service, police, and health service as well as Children’s Services within the council. You would be working within a committed team of 8 solicitors and 9 legal officers. The ability to work co-operatively, supportively, and flexibly as part of a friendly and well-functioning team is a key requirement, as is the skill to work confidently and effectively with client officers, members of the public, external professionals and representatives from other public bodies, attending meetings as necessary. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be highly organised and be able to demonstrate that you are able to deal effectively with a large and challenging workload that is often subject to tight deadlines. Adaptability is key, as is the ability to understand and interpret the needs of the Client Service and of the Council as a whole. The service is currently introducing the Signs of Safety social work model and training will be provided as necessary. The client ethos is to work together to find solutions, to be open, honest, and respectful, to take responsibility and listen and learn from others. You will provide support to the team Lawyers and the Team Leader. Excellent IT skills are essential as staff significantly self-support using the IKEN case management system and other IT based resources.
