Etcembly is a next generation TCR and antibody design and engineering company at the intersection between Machine Learning and Drug Development. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join an innovative biotech. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in protein biochemistry to develop novel biologics. You will draw upon your experience in protein engineering to provide insightful strategies towards effective biologics production, enhancement and optimisation. The ideal candidate will have a strong drive and motivation to deliver, and you will be supporting various cross functional projects. You will also provide training and supervision to junior members of the team where necessary. About Us Our startup is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence with biological research, specializing in language models (LMs) and their applications in genomics, proteomics, and drug discovery. We are passionate about revolutionizing the biotech industry through cutting-edge AI technologies, with a strong emphasis on computational protein engineering. Key Responsibilities Express and purify high quality recombinant proteins to support drug candidate screening and selection Develop tailored recombinant protein production strategies for non-optimised processes Support the design and development of new formats of biologics Support the establishment of a robust workflow for protein characterization, using a combination of biochemical and biophysical methods Participate in scientific strategy planning and contribute to new ideas Document experimental data and effectively communicate scientific results through reports and presentations Troubleshoot experiments with minimal supervision and propose strategies to progress ongoing projects Follow and write protocols and SOPs Keep up to date with the scientific literature and developments in the field Experience and Skills R equired: PhD in a relevant discipline, or an MSc with comparable experience Strong experience in the optimisation and production of recombinant proteins, including proficiency in mammalian and/or bacterial expression Proven expertise in analysing protein-protein interactions e.g. SPR or BLI Skilled in molecular biology and recombinant DNA techniques Experience in leading and advancing projects Adaptable mindset to be flexible in the face of evolving priorities A highly motivated and proactive individual who is invested in the success of the team Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team Desirable/Advantageous: Past experience working with TCR, antibody and/or therapeutic protein engineering is highly desirable Experience in structural biology and protein design Proficiency in tissue culture techniques What We Offer Opportunity to work at the cutting edge of AI and protein engineering, shaping the future of drug discovery and biotechnology Competitive salary and equity package State-of-the-art computational resources and access to cutting-edge biological datasets Collaborative and innovative work environment Opportunities for continued learning and professional development Based at Harwell Campus with a comprehensive benefits package Application Process: Please apply via email with a copy of your CV and covering letter to hr@etcembly.io Applications will be processed as they are received.
