Job summaryBe part of the movement to improve and provide mental health services for young people aged 0 to 25 years old in the city of Birmingham who are in a mental health crisis.Forward Thinking Birmingham is an innovative community and inpatient mental health service delivering a pathway of care for 0-25-year-olds. The service is led by Birmingham Womens' and Childrens' Hospital, and it is the first of its kind nationally. You will be working closely with our key partners where together we have an ambition to deliver an outstanding model of mental health care for the people of Birmingham.Be under no illusion, we have work to do, but rest assured FTB is a unique and truly individual service. We are continuously learning and evolving, as we work together to meet the mental health needs of our multi-cultural city.We are looking for Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioners for our Crisis and Home Treatment Team. Our service includes patients with varying diagnosis that have deteriorated into a mental health crisis that puts them at risk of being admitted to hospital. The Crisis and Home Treatment Team will also support people in their homes to try and prevent admission. If hospital admission cannot be avoided, then the crisis and home treatment team will help patients step down early and be supported in their homes with their family.Main duties of the jobYou will support the Team Leader in the development and implementation of a multiprofessional Crisis Resolution/Home Treatment Team providing a high quality service to meet the needs of people in acute phases of mental illness, and their carers.To ensure efficient and effective running of the team, providing Leadership and supervision within the multi-disciplinary staff group as appropriate.You will undertake urgent assessments of people with mental health problems in acute crisis and where appropriate provide intensive community based treatment/support services as an alternative to inpatient admission.The service will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.You will be responsible for helping to establish and maintain team systems and processes for effective team working and processes, including outcome measures and audit under the direction of the Team ManagerAll staff should comply with the Trusts Values, Employee guidelines, Trust Policies and Procedures, and Equality and Diversity.Interviews will be held at the Birmingham Children's Hospital Recruitment Open Day on 11/05/2024.About usBirmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is the first of its type in the UK.
