Job summaryThe Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD) Department cares for patients with rare diseases, some of which affect a small number of people across the world. Due to the nature of rare diseases, care and treatment options may be limited due to an incomplete understanding of the disease. Research in IMD is centred on improving patient care and treatment options.Inherited Metabolic Disorders and treatment for these patients is a small but a rapidly advancing area of medicine. The IMD Research Team offers a unique opportunity to deliver a variety of therapeutic clinical research drug trials including Phase 1 Gene Therapy to a unique group of patients, both local and nationally.This post offers the opportunity to utilize your research knowledge and to lead on complex IMD research trials. You will have regular contact with patients and be involved in novel research which offers these patients who have limited treatment options, new therapies that could make a real difference to their livesThe well-being and safety of our research participants is at the heart of all we do, as is our confidence that the data we provide is accurate and reproducible.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be allocated a number of studies for which they will act as lead nurse, they will be required to recruit and consent patients, and provide follow up research care in line with the study protocol. You will need excellent communication skills and IT skills, with the ability to perform data entry.
