Job summaryAn exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Surgical Senior leadership team to support the Critical Care team as a Senior Nurse Lead. We are looking for a flexible, organised, motivated and positive individual who has a passion to lead, manage, support and improve performance, safety, care and patient experience within Critical Care Services.Working as part of an established team and reporting directly to the Divisional Head of Nursing, this role will have responsibility for the Critical Care Unit, a 14 bedded facility, funded to accommodate 9 patients, serving a busy acute District General Hospital within Bury St Edmunds. The unit is innovative, promoting high quality evidence-based practice and actively develops individuals within the team. Proven experience of leading, managing and supporting teams is essential, as well as involvement in quality improvement, budget and resource management, strategic planning and change processes.The successful applicant of this post will work closely with the Operational Manager and Clinical Lead for the service and will be influential in leading and managing the Critical Care team to ensure efficiency, safety and the provision of expert specialised care within the department, promoting the ethos of compassionate and supportive team working, whilst supporting team well-being and promoting a positive and safe working environment and culture.Main duties of the jobThe role of the Clinical Lead is to ensure a safe and well managed Critical Care team and environment, promoting a positive experience for patients, focussing on safe staffing, efficiency and best clinical practice. Applicants must have expert knowledge and experience of working within the Critical Care environment and proven experience of managing, motivating and leading individuals to promote effective management of the service, high levels of care provision and expert practice.Applicants must be versatile, able to adapt to the needs of the service, be organised, have a calm demeanour and the ability to respond to change and lead with compassion and care within a pressurised and fast paced environment. This role will work closely with operational and clinical colleagues to create an environment which blends efficiency with safe working practices as guided and governed by national and local policy.The Surgical Division has a supportive team structure and we are keen to support and develop individuals personally and professionally.
