    • 10K - 100K GBP
    • Expired
    • Digital & Data Borough Programme Manager £58,818 - £71,412 per annum 13 months Fixed Term About Newham Data Newham Council is fast becoming a leader in data and AI, with an ambitious plan of action to become a hub in London for innovators and investors in the data sector while putting our residents at the heart of a digital future. Newham is a place that is full of potential and brimming with energy and talent. Proud to be one of the youngest and most diverse boroughs anywhere in the UK, 72% of our residents are from ethnically diverse communities, speaking over 220 languages and our population of 351,00 is growing at a rate of 14%, the third highest rate of growth in London. There is an enormous amount of growth happening across the borough, from a regeneration programme in Canning Town with plans for over 10,000 homes, a burgeoning tech and creative sector at Stratford with the V&A East, UAL, UCL and BBC music all opening by 2026. Newham has London’s highest concentration of Elizabeth line stations, London City Airport and the ExCel centre with over 4 million visitors a year. In partnership with the Institute of Global Prosperity at UCL, Newham Council has undertaken extensive research identifying Newham as a prime location for significant investment in the UK’s rapidly growing AI, data and cyber economies. The 2021 study projected that by 2035, the data economy in Newham could generate over 5,500 new jobs and deliver more than £104 million in additional GVA to the local economy. A strategic zone stretching from Canning Town to the Royal Docks was designated as a "Data Corridor"; a vision now being realised with two major data centres already granted planning permission and set for completion by 2028. Through our flagship Newham Data programme, we are actively ensuring this growth benefits our communities. Over 1,500 residents and businesses have already been trained in data and AI, and we have established the UK Centre for AI in the Public Sector with the local university - cementing Newham’s position as a national leader in inclusive, future-focused digital infrastructure and talent development.
