Job Summary: The IT Network Administrator is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure. This role includes monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network issues, ensuring network security, and providing technical support to users. The Network Administrator works closely with IT teams to ensure optimal network operations and to implement new technology solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Network Design & Implementation: o Design, deploy, and manage local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other data communication systems. o Configure and install network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. • Network Maintenance & Monitoring: o Monitor network performance and resolve any connectivity issues. o Perform regular network backups and ensure data integrity. o Regularly test network performance and troubleshoot problems such as slow data speeds or dropped connections. • Network Security: o Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, encryption protocols, and access controls. o Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and ensure compliance with company security policies. • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: o Provide technical support for network-related issues, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems. o Assist users in troubleshooting connectivity problems and configure devices for network access. • Documentation: o Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. o Prepare reports on network performance, security incidents, and other network-related activities. • Network Upgrades & Optimization: o Plan and implement network upgrades and improvements as needed. o Continuously optimize network performance, including bandwidth usage and latency reduction. • Collaboration: o Work with other IT professionals, including systems administrators and software engineers, to support organizational IT goals. o Participate in projects that require network infrastructure changes or enhancements. Skills & Qualifications: • Education: o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred). o Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar credentials are highly beneficial. • Experience: o 2-5 years of experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role. o Proven experience in managing and configuring network hardware and software. • Technical Skills: o Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, etc.). o Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios). o Familiarity with VPNs, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks. o Knowledge of security protocols and best practices (e.g., SSL/TLS, IPSec, etc.). o Experience with cloud computing and hybrid network environments is a plus. • Problem-Solving Skills: o Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and provide solutions quickly. o Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. • Communication Skills: o Strong verbal and written communication skills to document network configurations and provide support to end users. Working Conditions: • This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to perform maintenance, upgrades, or address network outages. • Some travel may be required depending on the size of the organization or multiple locations..
