Job summary Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint Senior Clinical Fellows in Anaesthesia, with commencement dates in September 2025. The tenure of all posts is 24 months. The posts do not attract a National Training Number. The posts are based within the existing teams with access to departmental teaching and other developmental opportunities. Despite not being recognised as 'training posts' they allow doctors to improve the breadth and depth of their experience in Anaesthetics. We are very supportive of those considering the portfolio pathway and have had several fellows be successful in this process. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. Main duties of the job The Anaesthetic services are split across two sites; and are one of 3 major trauma centres in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Whilst in post there will be plenty of opportunity to become involved in teaching, audit, and research. The department run local courses for both the primary and final FRCA and strongly encourage clinical fellows to take part in those as needed. Basic Medical Degree Primary FRCA Completion of IAC (Initial Assessment of Competency) in Anaesthesia RCOA approved Desirable Higher degree, e.g.MD/PhD Personal Attributes Desirable Basic computer skills including Microsoft word and Outlook Clinical experience Essential Completion of at least 2 years anaesthesia with documented NHS experience in both anaesthesia and intensive care Demonstrate the ability to prioritise clinical need and the ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems. Demonstrate the ability to maximise safety and minimise risk. Recognition of, and ability to undertake the initial management of, an acutely ill patient. Completion of ALS/ATLS or equivalent.
