Work and Skills Officer G7 - Strangeways & Cambridge SRF Enterprise officer Introduction to Strangeways & Cambridge SRF The Strangeways & Cambridge Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) is a collaborative initiative by Salford City Council and Manchester City Council aimed at transforming the combined area. This visionary project, spanning 320 acres, aiming to fundamentally revitalise the area by enhancing the built environment and mitigating flood risks. With plans to build up to 7,000 new homes and create a major new urban park, the SRF will deliver new vibrant commercial spaces and new green public realm. It is estimated that over 500 businesses, to some degree, will be affected as a result of the proposed changes. The extent to which businesses will be affected will vary, based on a number of factors including location, size and sector. Based with the Work and Skills Team, we are looking for a professional and committed officer who will act as a single point of contact to deal with all business enquiries relating to the draft Strangeways & Cambridge SRF. This person will be funded via the UK Shared Prosperity fund and will act as a single point of contact or the “front door and face” of the 2 Local Authorities to triage businesses and deal with immediate enquiries. As this is funded by UKSPF, there will be financial and monitoring requirements with specific targets relating to outputs and you will be responsible for providing regular updates using a variety of reporting methods to the project board, steering group and line manager. You will be required to assess the impact of the regeneration project on local businesses and regularly report business concerns, feedback, and the effectiveness of support measures, providing recommendations for adjustments as necessary. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships effectively with diverse stakeholders and a proactive problem solver with a strong focus on prioritising business needs. Reporting to the Work and Skills Specialist, you will be expected to work in a complex and fast-moving environment and will be co-located with both Manchester and Salford development/ regeneration teams as well as being based in Strangeways and Cambridge Street areas utilising partnerships and locations in both areas. For an informal discussion, please contact Rhianne Sweeney to arrange a convenient time to discuss the role The role holder must have at least 1 year experience directly engaging with businesses and business owners at a senior management level and adopt an account management approach to ensure businesses are provided with the correct levels of customer service. The post holder will provide “boots on the ground” engagement and develop a deeper understanding of the business base, business sentiment and will build knowledge and intelligence that will help to inform the emerging SRF deliverables. Act as the single point of contact for business enquiries. Triage businesses towards the appropriate contact or support service. Manage and resolve queries where possible and coordinate with the Business Growth Hub and other partners to deliver support. Explore opportunities to create business networks. Serve as a single point of contact and the dedicated liaison for all business-related enquiries concerning the Strangeways and Cambridge areas and communicate consistent messages. Triage and direct businesses to the appropriate contacts, such as council departments or business support services such as GM Business Growth Hub etc., ensuring efficient resolution of queries. Distribute information in engaging and accessible formats such as newsletters and bulletins, to keep businesses informed about project developments. Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise during the consultation process, fostering a positive and collaborative environment. Capture and record information accurately and sensitively, regularly reviewing and updating any progress and recording issues and risks. Expert stakeholder engagement experience is required to establish and maintain strong relationships with local business owners, trade associations, and other relevant stakeholders. Facilitate and/or participate in meetings, workshops, and forums to circulate information and gather feedback from businesses.
