As an ECC Intern you will work as part of a team to deliver effective support and high-quality customer experience. Supporting a range of services, you will deliver a flexible and agile support service, seeking opportunities to develop your skills, capabilities and knowledge. What will you be doing? Our Sustainable Transport (ST) team's priority is to create a Safer, Greener, Healthier County through the increased use of active travel and sustainable transport through modal shift, sustainably designed transport schemes and providing and promoting credible alternatives to the private car. Duties will include: Encourage, motivate, and liaise with residents, voluntary and community groups, schools, and business communities to support and take part in active travel events and consultations, creating a network of community-based Active Travel Champions. Research, identify, engage, and establish partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders to devise and deliver an active travel community engagement programme which seeks to identify and implement win-win scenarios. Support any of Essex's 550+ schools to help develop their School Travel Plans, and where appropriate support these through the wider Healthy School Streets project. Support with the collection of data and develop the skills to present data to a wide range of audiences. Work alongside partner organisations and the wider team to help facilitate and promote existing behaviour change interventions. Answering customer queries and complaints via telephone and email and undertake administrative duties as required. What we're looking for: A graduate or undergraduate looking for an industry placement year; all disciplines considered but the following areas are most suited to the role: Transport, Civil engineering, Data science, Town planning, Urban design, Law, Sustainability. Previous work or volunteer experience working within a similar environment would be beneficial, but not essential as full training and support will be provided. Experience of working with IT systems including Microsoft Office, and willingness to learn new systems important. Builds effective working relationships with colleagues and customers across the functional area and wider organisation, which are collaborative to deliver effective customer service. Possesses a flexible mindset, adaptable to changing environments and challenges. Exhibits strong communication skills, capable of effectively conveying and exchanging information. Demonstrates a willingness to learn and the ability to apply acquired knowledge practically. Essential Requirements for the role: Educated to RQF level 3 (or equivalent) with English and Maths at Grade A*-C (or 4-9) or above.
