Job summaryThis post attracts a recruitment incentive of £2,000 pro rata (conditions apply)We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to join our friendly, hardworking team to assist with the running of routine Haematology & Coagulation service at Colchester Hospital.You will join a busy and UKAS accredited department who have a close working relationship with our clinical consultant staff.You will be HCPC registered with knowledge and experience of NHS laboratory Haematology & Coagulation. You will be confident and motivated, possess a wide range of skills demonstrating good numeracy and literacy, training experience and attention to detail. You will play an integral part in the development of the Haematology team and their careers.Join us to develop your career and help us achieve our vision.Main duties of the jobThe role will include:Supervising the Coagulation and Haematology section and help managing the daily organisation and staffing of the section with the other Advanced Biomedical ScientistsEnsuring the analysers are maintained correctly and undertaking any troubleshooting that is requiredDealing with engineering visits and organising the section around planned and unplanned analytical down timeMonitoring internal and external quality-control performance and initiating any remedial action requiredDealing with stock control and ordering of reagents and materialsThe writing and updating of SOPs and staff competency logs and ensure that the section remains ISO:15189 compliant.Deputising for the Haematology Lead in their absence, so a good knowledge of both routine Haematology and Coagulation is required.Overseeing the raising of purchase orders and receipting invoices; networking with our referral providers; dealing with information requests and problems.The post is line managed by the Blood Sciences - Haematology Manager at Colchester.About usWe are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.
