Job summaryThis is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring psychologist, who has Graduate Basis for Registration, to work as an Assistant Psychologist (AP) in the adult acute inpatient wards at the Department of Psychiatry in Eastbourne. The AP is an integral part of the MDT and works under the supervision of the Principal Clinical Psychologist, offering evidence based individual psychological interventions to patients. The AP also co-facilitates a therapeutic group on both wards and is involved in service evaluation and audit work.You will be part of our friendly and supportive East Sussex acute and urgent care psychology and psychological therapies team, receiving high quality supervision and continued professional development and support. There is also a Trust-wide AP network offering opportunities for further CPD.Main duties of the jobYou will be a key member of the team and help contribute to the multi-disciplinary team's thinking and care-planning by working closely with psychiatry, nursing and OT colleagues.Provide 1:1 interventions for service users on both wards as part of their evidence-based treatment/interventionTo co-facilitate treatment groups on both wards with the lead psychologistTo take responsibility for keeping the patient record up to date regarding any clinical activity they are involved inTo support the development of psychological formulations for service users, including organising MDT meetings and meetings with service users to facilitate this.Undertake projects relating to service development and evaluation, as requiredTo work with and develop existing databases, spreadsheets and using advanced IT skills in evaluation audit and research.To support assessment and treatment interventions undertaken by the service as appropriate to level of competence and training.To plan, organise and co-facilitate psycho-educational courses and groups with appropriately qualified professional staff.To liaise with a range of services (including health, social care and voluntary agencies) relevant to the working area.About usSussex Partnership is a fantastic Trust to work for and psychology is highly valued.
