Job summaryWe are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to work in the Blood Sciences department based at Ipswich Hospital.You should be a confident, conscientious and enthusiastic individual, with laboratory experience, capable of careful and accurate work.What we need from you:Foundation degree or equivalent, although not essential for the roleHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailExperience of working in an NHS biomedical science laboratoryAbility to multi-task, work well under pressure and to work flexibly.Willingness to participate in the out of hours serviceYou will receive training and supervision whilst working towards required competencies to provide a safe and quality service for our patients.Main duties of the jobPerforms a number of healthcare science clinical/technical/scientific activities under supervision, e.g. performs standard biochemical/haematological tests.Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out; may input/interrogate test results of others.May be required to supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in own area.To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals.
