Job summaryWe are currently seeking at appoint an 8a CAMHS Highly Specialist Psychologist in the Learning Disability Team in Hounslow CAMHS. This is a permanent post 0.6 wte (additional hours may be available in other areas of the CAMHS service if desired). We are also keen to welcome applicants about to qualify and we would offer a preceptorship from band 7 to 8a.Due to ongoing investment and significant investment and expansion of the West London Psychology team we are pleased to be recruiting to some new and established 8a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist roles across the service. CAMHS has been under pressure, and particularly over the past two years as children, young people and families have been impacted by Covid-19. As a CAMHS management team we are expanding our service with the aim of meeting the needs of children, young people and families as well as maintaining our commitments to staff wellbeing, manageable job plans and giving staff the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge further whilst in role.Psychology is a very well established profession in CAMHS services and has a large group of staff who deliver innovative and highly regarded clinical services in many different contexts. Each borough holds regular psychology meetings and there are excellent CPD opportunities with regular whole-service trainings in therapeutic approaches and associated specialist supervision groups.Main duties of the jobYou will based in the Learning Disabilities Team in Hounslow CAMHS, using highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention skills with young people and their families/carers presenting with mental health difficulties. You will also be responsible for line management and supervision of any specialist clinical, trainee or assistant psychologists within the team and support further development and service user participation within the service.We would be delighted to hear from Psychologists who have experience working in CAMHS and Learning Disability. The post would be suited to someone who is passionate about delivering a high quality psychology service with young people and families. The LDT are multi-disciplinary, including psychiatry, nursing, and psychology. The post holder will be part of a growing team of clinicians with a special interest and expertise in working with young people with a learning disability.Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesPlease see our Candidate information pack for a comprehensive job description and person specification for this role.Person SpecificationQualificationsEssentialDoctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or equivalent if trained overseasEligible to work as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical) as approved by the Health Care Professions Council.Training in supervision.DesirableTraining and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.ExperienceEssentialExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and their families across a range of care settings, (e.g. outpatient, community, primary care, in patient settings).Experience of working with children, adolescents and their families which will have involved maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.Experience working as a specialist clinical psychologist in CAMHS.Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.DesirableFurther specialist experience in CAMHS, including: Experience working with children, adolescents (and their families) with learning disability and/or neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g. ASD, ADHD, etc.) in a CAMH setting.
