Job summaryAre you somebody looking for an exciting opportunity in a support worker role within a specialist mental health service? Our Early Intervention in Psychosis Service is expanding its offer of supporting young people with their recovery. Key to this is having support workers who can focus on running activities and interventions that promote opportunities in areas such as employment and education that are underpinned by young people feeling more confident and motivated to meet their individual goals.You will work alongside clinicians from different disciplines as well as other senior support staff and peer support workers (staff with their own lived experience of mental health problems). As a team we will be working with young people to understand their goals and aspirations and you will play a key part in helping them meet these. This will include linking into local communities and build relationships with organisations that provide activity that that the young people we see may want to engage with and then supporting them to do this.You will be supported with an induction that is tailored to meet your needs. And we'll provide the opportunity for you to bring your fresh ideas to work about how we can do things differently and continue improving.Main duties of the jobThe Birmingham Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) comprises of four clinical teams covering the North, East, South and West sectors of the city. They are based at sites in Lozells, Washwood Heath and Selly Oak. The service works with young people aged 16-35 who have a first episode of psychosis and supports them for a period of up to three years. Alongside pharmocolgical treatment and therapy based interventions we deliver a range of activities aimed at supporting young people's recovery which will include access to employment and education opportunities and activities to build confidence and improve motivation.About usBirmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is the first of its type in the UK.
