If so, this is the job for you!An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified dental nurse with a post graduate diploma in sedation to join our team at Leeds Community Dental Services.We are a city-wide service with clinics at Yeadon, Middleton and Chapeltown and you would be expected to work from all 3 of these clinics. As a team we are committed to providing a high-quality service to our community and committed to developing as a team Good written, verbal and communication skills are essential and previous knowledge of dental software/systems would be desirable although training will be provided.Main duties of the jobYour primary responsibility will be to provide clinical and administrative support to Consultants, Specialists, Senior Dental Officers, Dental Officers and Dental Therapists in a wide range of treatments for our client base which includes adults and children, patients with complex medical, social/mental health needs and Dental phobics.You would support and work with the dental nursing team in providing care to our patient base under the direction of the Dental Nurse lead within that clinic.You would be part of a small group of Dental nurses who have the post graduate qualification in Sedation and work with our Dentists and Therapists who are qualified in IV and Inhalation sedation.We would like you to have a welcoming and positive approach for our patients and be a motivated and reliable member of the team. In doing so, they will support the assessment of service users and implementation of programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work within a range of standard operating procedures and pathways in which they have received training in order to be competent.Key Responsibilities1. Clinical1.1. The post holder will work within agreed framework to plan, implement and evaluate clinical and/or therapeutic activities and service user response to activity.1.2. Provides chair-side assistance to Consultants, Specialists, Senior Dental Officers, Dental Officers and Dental Therapists1.3. Support and assist other staff members to deliver care as delegated and directed1.4. Demonstrates highly developed physical skills obtained through practice and training e.g. accuracy, dexterity and coordination to assemble and dismantle specialist equipment, prepare and present materials and medicaments, manipulate delicate dental instruments1.5. The post holder will be able to make judgement involving facts or situation which may require analysis e.g. making clinical decisions related to specific pathway of care.Clinical Special Interest and related dutiesIf qualified to do so:Carry out nurse led fluoride varnish clinicsCarry out nurse led preventative dental clinicsCarry out nurse led radiography clinicsMonitor and support patients undergoing treatment within specialist clinics such as relative analgesia and intravenous sedation as part of a qualified teamPrepare and assist in general anaesthetic sessions carried out at hospital sitesProviding advice, support, information and instructions to patients as required2.
