Job summaryAre you looking to start or progress your finance career within the NHS? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Apprentice to join our friendly and supportive team within NHS England, East of England region.As part of the Finance Team, we are offering the opportunity to gain valuable NHS experience, with working towards the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard, a nationally recognised qualification (AAT). This programme is over 18-24 months (possibly extended to 36mths); working hours are 37.5 hr p/w. A detailed job description is attached.Full training will be given on finance systems, and you'll be supported by a dedicated Finance Manager throughout the apprenticeship.New apprentices will be employed on NHS terms and conditions.Upon completion, support will be provided to help you apply for appropriate positions within the organisation/wider NHS. We can't guarantee a suitable role will be available at that time, but we'll do all we can to support you.You must be over 16 and been resident in the UK/EU for the last 3 years. We're inviting applications from candidates with 5 GCSEs grade 5-9 (or equivalent) including Maths & English.Whilst we actively encourage flexible working, you'll be required to work in an office at least two days p/w. You will have excellent keyboard and computer skills, good written, verbal and interpersonal skills with ideally having gained experience within in a busy office, customer-based environment or volunteer role.Examples of finance activities you will be supported to learn and get involved in:Learning how to produce monthly finance information for managersRecording and analysing financial information using spreadsheets and financial systems to ensure resources are spent effectivelyTo prepare and input reversible and standard journals into the financial ledger as requiredTo maintain the SBS Oracle system to process invoices and ensure invoices are processed in a timely mannerTo assist in the production of monthly budget reporting, including variance analysis, reports and reconciliations which will ensure that the financial information provided for NHS England is timely and accurate.Answering queries from budget holders, business managers and the wider finance team about financial informationYou will actively engage with all aspects of the study programme and submit assignments, to the required standard within the agreed deadlines.
