Job summaryOur gym instructors are vital to the success of our business. The purpose of the post is to increase membership & improve attrition rates by providing a high level of customer service & care through the provision of an efficient service carrying out thorough gym inductions, effective programme designs for members encompassing appropriate fitness testing for new and existing members.To ensure the safe us of equipment by members and to keep the gym running smoothly by carrying out regular maintenance checks & cleaning equipment.To set up & break down equipment for activities in sports hall and studios, assisting in all health and wellbeing activities in the centre.***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***Main duties of the jobEncourage full member participation by presenting an efficient, cheerful, and enthusiastic image at all times.Clean and maintain sport & gym equipment, reporting any faults to the duty manager or supervisor on shift and record them appropriately in book.Be responsible for carrying out weekly maintenance checks of spin bikes, carrying out minor repairs.Conduct gym inductions, programmes, and fitness tests to enable you to advise members how to gain the most from their training and achieve their personal fitness goals.Set up activities for sports users.Plan small fitness challenges and activities for gym members.Assist in the setting up of furniture for activities and functions.Always maintain a visible presence in the fitness suite to coach and advise users where necessary,Take prospective members on a tour of the facility as required.Coach various activities/classes within the centre to ensure members are offered a varied programme.Be familiar with and adhere to the centres health & safety policy together with other centre policies.Collect & return towels etc from the hospital as required.Assist managers with promotional and advertising activities internally and externally.Cover the reception desk when required.Cover classes when appropriate.TAbout usWe are a people business - where every member of staff matters and can make a difference.
