We are based within the School of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and have close collaborative and interdisciplinary links with other departments in the Faculty and across the wider University. The role We are looking for a Lecturer in Archaeology specialising in the archaeological investigation of areas relating to sustainability. You will enhance the reputation of Southampton Archaeology regarding sustainability in archaeological research. You will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and will undertake leadership, management and engagement activities. This permanent post is available from 1 August 2024. Whilst this post is offered on a full-time basis, hours are not a barrier, and we are interested in individuals wishing to work 0.6 FTE and above About you You will have: a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Archaeology or related discipline; detailed understanding and knowledge of an area of archaeological research relating to sustainability and a growing and consistent national reputation in this area a research agenda that addresses wider questions of disciplinary significance, and a track record of peer-reviewed published research; a track record of development and delivery of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as demonstrated success in delivering learning outcomes a teaching qualification (PCAP or equivalent) While not essential, the following criteria are desirable: (Advanced) knowledge of archaeological methodologies relating to sustainability; Experience of contributing to/leading on grant applications; Membership of Advance HE; Experience of teaching UK and international students; Involvement in national events What we can offer you With a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days we are committed to supporting our staff and open to a flexible working approach.
