Job summaryLOCUM CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGISTApplications are invited for the position of Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist. The Royal Marsden is a world leader in cancer research, treatment and education. Together with our academic partner, The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), we are the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe and the only National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre specialising in cancer in the UK.Applicants should be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council and have membership of the Royal College of Physicians or hold equivalent qualifications. Applicants will have their CCT or be within 6 months of obtaining it.Main duties of the jobThis post will be responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient care for patients with general gastroenterology problems as well as endoscopy. The post-holder will cover the following main areas of work:- Out-patient general and specialised gastroenterology clinics- Diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy lists, some of which may be training lists- In-patient gastroenterology patient management on the Sutton site and provide cross cover in Chelsea - being available to review acutely unwell gastroenterology patients and helping with GI bleeds- Potential supervision of the GI clinical fellow- Participation in the in-hours GI bleed rotaThe post holder will have no route on-call duties other than the in-hours GI bleed cover.This is a very exciting opportunity for a gastroenterologist to expand their skills in a unique environment where patients receive state of the art cancer care.About usThe Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre.
