Job summaryThis post offers the opportunity to show clinical expertise in a variety of different areas. It is a well supported role with a cohesive team of nurses, OTs, Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners. There are opportunities for teaching, management and QI.Staff are currently being trained in Open Dialogue which is a new way of working and has so far brought a refreshing change of perspective for staff working in the CMHT. This new approach is likely to lead to improved wellbeing for both staff and patients.Kent is a large county with a strong rural history. This backdrop is the perfect setting to develop one's personal and professional life.Main duties of the jobProvide medical input as required to patients under care of the Community Mental Health Team and will attend CPAs for enhanced patients and provide urgent assessment/advice as required.Lead regularly on screening of new referrals to the team (rotational responsibility between the Consultants).The post holder would be expected to actively participate in service/team evaluation and the planning of future service developments.Empowers the team to resolve local issues on a daily basis using the tools and method of quality improvement without staff having to seek permission.To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust's personnel policies and procedures. This may include assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework.To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service.The postholder will join the Consultant on-call rota.
