We are looking a full-time Medical Secretary (37.5 hours per week) to work with our Ophthalmology Admin team.This is a very busy department and the post holder must have the ability to work under pressure. Previous experience in Healthcare in Admin is desirable. The post holder will be expected to have good communication skills and be able to liaise effectively and efficiently with colleagues, professionals and patients.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be expected to provide a high standard of secretarial support to the Consultants.The role involves responsibility for:Operating effective and efficient office systems, including maintaining records, medical notes and filing systems.Waiting list and diary management for designated Consultant(s)Management of patients through the 18 week Referral to Treatment pathway adhering to Standard Operating procedures and processes.Management of data quality in line with Trust processes.Liaising with other NHS staff regarding patient appointments.To be the primary contact for patients under designated Consultant(s).
