Job summaryUniversity Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) has one of the largest maternity services in the UK, providing maternity care across Derbyshire and into Staffordshire.We want to provide woman-centred, family friendly care and offer a range of models of midwifery and obstetric care provision. This includes midwife-led care, continuity of carer models, and specialist care provided by our obstetric teams for women with more complex needs, as well as community midwifery services.Are you a third-year student coming to the end of your studies and due to qualify in 2024 or a newly qualified midwife ? If so come and join our friendly team where we can offer you a supportive and established preceptorship program if you are newly qualified. As part of the preceptorship program, you will be allocated a named member of the team for support whereby we have an 'open door policy, so you can speak to us at any time. You will be given four bespoke study days per year for reflection, learning and improving the service. This is where we bring all our preceptors together and have speakers to talk about any specific areas that you are interested in, which gives you a voice. You are given a protected induction period and we are invested in supporting you in your transition to the role of midwife. We also have additional members of staff who can come in and support you clinically.Main duties of the jobWe place the woman, baby and family at the centre of our service. We are a consultant led unit with a dedicated Midwifery led care area within our delivery suites and deliver care to a diverse population with complex medical and social needs working alongside a team of Specialist Midwives.UHDB has cross sites with consultant units at Derby and Burton on Trent, alongside Birth centre at DerbyWe have acute rotational Midwives post, which involves Midwives working across all areas of our Maternity services, including Pregnancy assessment/Antenatal services, Labour ward and our antenatal/postnatal wards.There is also Continuity of carer teams who provide all aspects of care to women.We are proud of the Maternity services we offer and if you are considering applying for a post you welcome to look round our Maternity Unit and find out more about our Midwifery posts.An extensive induction package is offered to any successful candidate joining our Maternity services to ensure you are well supported and have time to adjust to working within our services.Closing date of applications: 19th June 2024Interview date: 2nd July 2024About usAt UHDB around 9,000 babies are born across our two sites each year at Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queens Hospital Burton (QHB).
