Job summaryLooking for a role where you can make a difference & work with people in the long term utilising creative/flexible approaches?Are you an OT, Nurse or Social Worker & enthusiastic about engaging hard to reach individuals?The Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (part of The Offender Personality Disorder Team) are looking for a B6 Practitioner 1 year fixed term maternity cover 30 hours per week. We welcome applications from registered health professionals who have experience of working with personality disorder to join us. Secondments considered with manager approval.The team is part of Probation & NHS. It sits within the Forensic service which comprises of a Specialist Forensic Team, Advice & Support in Custody & Court which brings with it the opportunity to diversify skills/experience. You'll have the chance for full induction within these teams.The role will be to support those who are 'hard to engage' to access/utilise a range of community services in order to improve their mental health and reduce the risk of re-offending.The post would suit someone who is enthusiastic about promoting offender wellbeing and has a good understanding of the vulnerabilities and risk management of this patient group. You will provide support/supervision to other members of the team.You'll have the opportunity to work with people on probation in a variety of settings. This is an excellent opportunity to work long term, creating relationships with people to have real impact!Main duties of the jobIn this role, you will take the lead on implementing IIRMS assessments and interventions within the service, including assessing needs, planning, facilitating interventions, and evaluating the process. You'll contribute to individual intervention plans using evidence-based pracrice and effective models of practice. You'll be supported by the wider team and have access to clinical supervision, potentially with a supervisor from your own discipline within the Trust.Additionally, you will be responsible for designing and delivering relevant group work to Approved Premises residents, aimed at assisting them with daily living skills and integrating into the community. You will also work alongside the Offender Manager to assess the needs and risks of individuals with conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Learning Disabilities.The position requires a certain amount of travel, due to the wide area covered and rural nature of Somerset. You would be working in a range of environments to deliver groups i.e. gardening allotment group and one-to-one interventions such as community walks, cafes, probation offices, NHS sites, an approved premise and sometimes home visits. The programme is a joint initiative between NHS England and Probation. The OPD pathway utilises psychological knowledge and thinking in order to meet the needs of this complex group and reduce further offending.The OPD pathway works with the following theoretical models: Attachment theory; Desistance and 'Good Lives' models; Theory of Needs; Risk Needs Responsivity.The service aims to support clients who have further needs around their resettlement and on-going risks to others. IIRMS offers a service to offenders who might struggle to access mainstream provision. The role will involve working with a Forensic Psychologist, Operational Manager, Assistant Psychologist, Engagement Worker and OPD Probation Officer as well as the wider Forensic service. The role will involve supporting clients with employment and maintaining appropriate housing as well as providing individualised or group programmes to address complex needs and support accessing meaningful activities. The role will also involve working with the OPD Psychologist and the Offender Manager to assess the needs and risks of an individuals.Work with the local Approved Premises to provide specialist advice and support.Work with relevant professionals and agencies to meet the needs of clients. Such professionals may include SCFT key workers, Forensic Link Workers, Employment Workers within Job Centres, Employment Service and Recovery College.
