The Children in Care and Care Leavers service consists of a team of senior practitioners, social workers and personal advisors (PA) across the Newcastle and Moorlands District of Staffordshire. Due to PA's completing Social Work Apprenticeships, there are 2 posts available within our busy team - permanent and 6 month fixed term secondment. The post holders will be eligible for an essential car allowance and mileage rates are paid. Some working outside of core hours will be required.
As a leaving care personal advisor, you will be responsible for providing practical support, advice and guidance to young people aged 16-25 leaving our care.
Main Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside professionals from a range of disciplines including, social workers, probation services, police, accommodation providers, housing, welfare benefits, mental health professionals, substance misuse services and foundations to employment.
Through these multiple relationships you will help prepare young adults to ensure they are supported within their journey to independence. Working within the corporate parenting principles you will empower young adults to develop skills to prepare them for their futures.
The Ideal Candidate
Applicants must have significant experience of working with children / young people and be flexible, have good communication skills and an ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other professionals, and be solution focused to achieve best outcomes for our care experienced young people. Driving is an essential part of this role.
