Job summaryRoyal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has invested in the recruitment of newly qualified midwives who will require support to achieve their full potential as registered midwives.The Preceptee Support Midwife will work with the practice development midwife who oversees newly qualified midwives and is responsible for supporting the preceptee midwives in clinical practice as well as providing pastoral support. This will be with the intention of enhancing the preceptee midwives' experience and facilitating retention.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be required to work in collaboration with the practice development, clinical governance and operational teams by providing individualized support in the clinical environment to newly qualified midwives. Working across all maternity service settings, the job holder will be responsible for supporting newly qualified midwives in clinical practice, and act as a visible support for preceptees. The post holder will also provide pastoral support to newly qualified midwives.The post holder will be capable of working across all areas of maternity care, including the antenatal clinic, community settings, delivery suite, midwifery led unit, Shere and St Catherine's Wards. The post holder will have expert clinical skills, including that of cannulation and suturing.The post holder will be accountable for their midwifery practice and will be responsible for their own professional development. You will adhere to the policies and protocols of the Trust and the NMC.This midwife is expected to carry out all relevant forms of clinical care in periods of maternity escalation.
