Job summaryTo work across the North West Cluster of Prisons assessing patients at risk of and/or diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection and/or a Blood Borne Virus. Any review will be undertaken in conjunction with the post holder.Person Specificationessiential and desriableEssentialRegistered General Nurse.Degree in Sexual Health or another relevant health related subject or willing to work towards.Previous experience as a nurse in a GUM clinic or equivalent settingTo have a good knowledge of STI / HIVTo have knowledge / experience of health education, particularly sexual health and safer sex educationPhlebotomy skills. Smear trained or willing to work towards. LARC/IUD trained or willing to work towards. Ability to communicate well with good oral and written skills and the ability to communicate with people on sensitive subjects in a non judgmental way. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritise work and manage case load. To be efficient and accurate in keeping records and have good IT skills. Must be able to carry and use prison keys. Good level of physical ability - must be able to partake in personal protection training.DesirablePast experience of working within secure environment. Specialist knowledge and skills relating to the detection and treatment of blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections. Experience in teaching / lecturing Experience in a CASH service / women's health.
